HISTORY OF RATTAWU

The Radio Television Theatre and Art Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU)" The Nations Image Makers" is an umbrella Union comprising of all Radio, Television Presenters, Producers, Distributors and projectors (Movie Stars). Operators o Cinemas and services allied, to the foregoing, including workers in the music industries, information ministries, Arts Councils (Culture and Tourism). Museums and gallery, viz NTA, FRCN, BBC, VOA, CFI, CNN, (Nigerian Programms Representatives') and all State owned and Private stations etc.

The radio Television Theatre and Art Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) was inaugurated on the November 1st 1977 at the British Council Ibadan, Oyo State Capital, (RATTAWU registered the 25th of thirty seven (37th ) industrial Union affiliates of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

Being the audio-visual fourth Estate of the Realm and Watch dog of the Society, (RATTAWU) in its hidden eye role, unveils the ills and norms plaguing our society at any point in time, binging such perpetrators to focus before the public eye, and RATTAWU condemn the unpatriotic positions of some of our leader in the society, it will be important to recognize those that most have contributed to the course of our RATTAWU, in the Union, companies, Government Sector, media and other Agencies, Multi national organizations and reward them in a grand style, as it is your union tradition of promoting patriotism, hard work and encouraging excellence.
